How to Quote in New Forum Posts?

  • I might be blind, but I don't see a button for putting quote tags around chunks of text in the new forum software. I see one for code, but not for quote. Am I missing something?

  • @beremonavabi
Just put a ">" in front of the line and

    here's your quote

    Simple as that.

Or just hit the "quote" button below my reply and see in the editor how it's done...

  • @jahonix Thanks. That's easy enough. And, it looks like the ">" symbol applies until the next paragraph mark (two ENTERS?). For instance, the text below is preceded by a single ">" at the start.

    button for putting quote tags

Select the text you want to quote and click the Quote button. 😉

That's good for posts within a thread. But, I was wondering about pasting in a block of text from somewhere else and then formatting it as a quote. I'm pretty sure in the old forum software, we either:

    • chose the "quote" button in the formatting options and pasted the text in the resulting spot,
    • pasted the text in, highlighted it, and hit that same "quote" formatting button,
    • or, typed in a [quote] [/quote] pair around the text.
