We have a number of Linux clients establishing OpenVPN connections to our Pfsense. We configure each client to receive a /30. We would like to be able to register those clients with a DNS server upon connecting, using the common name, which is the username (in our case). Nothing we tried seems to work. Is this possible? We tried both the pfsense DNS resolver, and a windows DNS server allowing dynamic updates.

I assume that "Force DNS cache update" is windows specific, but i couldn't find any info on the "Register connected OpenVPN clients in the DNS Resolver" setting. Regardless, if this is possible (which i hope), then how do i configure this? Im adding DNS settings in the OpenVPN server config, but it doesnt seem to do anything. On the Linux client side, the /etc/resolv.conf file is never updated, nor does it create a DNS entry on the DNS server.

Speaking of pfsense resolver. I have a few quick questions.

      1. Can i multiple DNS zones?
      2. Where can i see the list of dynamic registration with resolver (not that static overrides)?
      3. Can i allow a zone transfer?
