After disabling OpenVPN Client, WAN Bounce Required
-
Hello all,
I'm sure I'm doing something silly, but sometimes I want to turn off my OpenVPN client, and when I do so, I lose internet.
The only way I can get it back is to bounce the WAN interface. Is this expected? Any ideas?
Any help appreciated!

No not expected. But you could have states maybe sending you down a vpn that is down. How exactly are you disabling your vpn client connection?
if you want to use your client connection now and then, be easier to just policy route it for when you want it and turn off the policy that routes you out the vpn when you don't want that client to use it.
And just flush any states for that specific client(s) after you disable the policy, etc.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
I think i found a setting that work for me, for some reason checking ("Do not retry"):
Seems to make things behave better when I do end up disabling. I will look into your policy route idea though. Thanks again.

How exactly are you disabling it?

Directly in the OpenVPN Client settings, right at the top.

Well your authentication retry checkbox would have nothing to do with that.
