How do I know if it is working?
-
I have installed Squid and I have seen that when there is an big update to Windows 10 it seems that all my computers with Windows 10 is downloading the update from WAN and not from my cache/Squid. Well I can be sure that I'm right. It just take so long time every time.
How do I know if this is working?

Hi,
Windows Update, or actually any other SSL connections don't get cached by caches like squid.
This would make squid an MITM, and that could have huge consequences. -
Oh, I see.
Okay, but what metadata is cached?
-
Depends on how you set up your cache.

I'm not using Squid, but I tend to say : all classic http (non-https) web access. Forget about SSL caching (check Google, he will tell you why).
Squid main goal isn't being a "cache", it's more a proxy thing.
