Zoneedit dynamic DNS
-
Hi,
In monowall I had dynamic dns configured for zoneedit. In pfSense there is no option for zoneedit. Anyone know of a way to enable that option. It might be possible as pfSense derives from monowall.

The dyndnsupdater has been completely rewritten as the one m0n0 uses is not maintained anymore so m0n0 is COMPLETELY different concerning that part.
-
Which means that we lost some providers due to no docs. Sorry!
-
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I went on and checked the dyndns.class. There the zoneedit service exists. How can I use it?

Test and fix the bugs present in it and submit patches. It will not be in 1.0.
-
Ok, will do.
Thanks

Hi,
Fixed the implementation for zoneedit and it is working without problems for almost one month now.
How can I submit the code?Best Regards,
Tiago Baptista -
Provide a diff against HEAD of the files you changed and add it as attachment to your reply here.

Nice. Any idea on when this might be implement?
I use dsnexit.com but Id switch to zoneEdit once its added.
-
I think that even got commited to head already. It won't appear in pfSense 1.0 though. With that said, there is no timeframe for this feature.

Hi jester600,
I am using zoneedit with version 1.0, but the files I sent are for the development version.
However, if it's OK with the administrators, I could post here the files for version 1.0 RC2.Tiago Baptista

For sure it is ok though not officially supported ;)

Hi,
Here are the files you need to use zoneedit dynamic dns.
To update the files on your pfSense box you can use the web administration.- Use the Edit File option of the Diagnostics menu.
- Then load each file, change the existing text with the one provided here, and save.
- Done, all you need to do now is configure the service on the Services->Dynamic DNS menu option.
- The files provided are: /etc/inc/dyndns.class and /usr/local/www/services_dyndns.php
- ATT: the files on the post have an extra .txt extension because the forum only allows certain extensions to upload.I guess that covers it.

Aight cool.
Just to make sure I dont mess anything up…
in the "save/load from path" I put in the file path from my local hd & do I press "load" & then "save"? Do I need to enable or disable "highlighting"?
-
Highlighting only is for displaying. SHouldn't matter for the file that get's written. However, just leave it turned off.
-
Hi,
Regarding highlighing, as hoba said, just leave it off.
As for the paths, you have to input the paths of the pfSense box. Those I mentioned on the previous post.
Press load, replace the text with the one I provide and press save.Tiago Baptista

What happened to those files? I click on the link and it says '404 - Attachment not found". Thanks!
-
Perhaps they are no longer available due to the recent server maintenance?…
-
Maybe somone who downloaded the files or the original poster can readd them again. Not sure if we can simply recover them or where they went off.
