The pfSense Book is now available to everyone
-
Today we’re pleased to announce that The pfSense Book is also freely available to everyone. As we promised in a previous blog, all of the services provided with a pfSense Gold membership will be made available to everyone by the release of pfSense software version 2.4.4. We’ve already made the Monthly pfSense Hangout videos available on YouTube, and we’ve announced that Automatic Config Backup (ACB) is a bundled feature in pfSense 2.4.4.

Thanks, this great.

Awesome!
Will this be continually updated, to reflect new features, like e.g. routed IPsec VPNs in 2.4.4? -
Yup, that's the plan.

Am I the only one who thinks that the pfSense documentation and the pfSense book should be merged?

Then start doing it: https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/references/updating-docs.html

@grimson Of course I'm not going to do it.
I was just wondering whether someone is working on a merge or if the two projects are meant to continue being separate, like they were before the book was released for free. -
We are working on a plan for that. There are some parts that are redundant that could be merged, but others that still sort of stand on their own and don't fit the format/style of "book" content.
So it's in the works, but not currently a priority right this moment.

@jimp Thank you Jim. That totally makes sense. And by the way, I'm so very grateful for the love that you guys put into pfSense and its documentation!
