I have been trying to resolve this issue since Pfblockerng 2.1.4.9 to current developer preview. Openvpn clients on pfblocker does not block ads. While clients not connected to VPN, Pfblockerng is working.

You need to make sure that the LAN devices are using the pfSense DNS server for DNS Resolution and not the VPN service itself, or DNSBL will not take effect.

I never use the vpn provider dns because they have none. Everything is done within DNS resolver. (forwarder is off).

I used DNS over TLS. But it is really surprising to me that devices not connected to openvpn Pfblockerng are blocking ads.
