With static IP address, pfsense clients cannot access the Internet.
-
Dude if your wanting to set this IP on pfsense - it has ZERO to do with 192.168.anything..
And /32 does not give you anywhere enough info to make it work... What is the gateway IP address to set when using this static? And more likely then not your device from your ISP will have to be put in bridge mode.
-
@mp26
If your pfSense is behind a (router-)modem with NAT, the internet access has nothing to do with static or dynamic public IP. The Public IP is managed by the router and pfSense uses the router as gateway. -
^ exactly... What is the make and model of the device you got from your ISP... And what are the exact details your ISP gave you for setting up static... It sure and the hell is not some IP/mask - you need a GATEWAY IP to make that work!!!
-
@viragomann The static IP doesn't have the same settings. The problem arises when the static IP gets static IP.
-
@johnpoz my device tplink w9970 modem. ip 78.186.95.153/32.
-
That is NOT a modem its a freaking gateway that is a NAT router... What IP it has on its wan has ZERO to do with pfsense..
If you want it to be a MODEM then here
https://www.tp-link.com/uk/faq-1332.htmlThen if you want to set a static public IP on pfsense your going to need more than IP/mask - you have to KNOW what its gateway is!!!
-
This system will be used in school. it is quite important to me. I am computer teacher. I'm waiting for your help. I don't have static IP with the same modem.
-
I'm having trouble with dsl not using static ip with same modem.
-
I set the modem to bridge mode. I made a ppoe connection at pfsens. wan ip was 78.186.95.153. ISP dns information has arrived. However, I can not ping the rope from the wan interface, although I can not ping.
-
Ok so if you have your PPPoE connection working pfsense.. And you want to ping this IP from the internet you would have to allow that on your firewall rules.
If you want to get to something behind pfsense then you would need to setup a port forward..
What exactly do you teach in computers - clearly its not networking ;)
-
@johnpoz office, php, html vs.. :)
I would appreciate it if you could tell me how to do it. -
I've just started to learn pfsense many settings I've been here.
-
Do what?? Allow ping to your wan interface? Port forward?
All this basic stuff is well documented..
See link to book in my signature or read the docs.
https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/Do you do your students homework for them? ;)

you can agree if you want paid help. at an affordable price

I don't do homework for students. school internet security and monitoring is a very important issue.
