Hi guys been a while and I hope you all have a merry xmass and a happy new year.

      Ok now the question.

Does it really matter if you use an SSD of a 2T HDD ?
Does it really matter how much ram you're using?

I made my PfSense router years ago and its got 8gig of ddr3 ram and a 250 SSD and a little 4 core intel processor in it.

      Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU J1900 @ 1.99GHz
Current: 1992 MHz, Max: 1993 MHz
      4 CPUs: 1 package(s) x 4 core(s)
      AES-NI CPU Crypto: No
      8 Gig RAM
      250GB SSD

I know that's overkill for just Pfsence but it's the packages that start making it play up for me, especially DEV_PFblocker which I love to bits.
I love the new feeds, its all just excellent work.

Anyway I know about enlarging the tables if I'm going to start all block lists and feeds, I think mine was on 800000 before it started going wrong.
On the VGA monitor its stuck at boot up screen but it still works fine and beeps, but I have no idea why it gets stuck?

So I guess all I need to understand is how to build a good list of feeds and tables for 8 gig of ram and if a bigger HDD would be better, I got a 2T HDD.

I know im overkilling everything or I want to lol but when I start adding feeds it sort of breaks pfsense im not to sure why it gets stuck at bootup but is still working fine.

Maybe to have bigger tables to handle the feeds I need more RAM or bigger HDD or SSD or faster processor ??
      Im blocking the world lol

I guess I just need to learn more about the tables.

Anyway, im rebuilding it again after its last crash but id love to know how to put lots of feeds in without it messing with Pfsense?

      Many thanks ;)

If you want to add big tables, you should increase the memory.
8 GB can support around 1M DNS domain names.
pfblockerNG db uses around 750MB disk space:

        du -k
        448104	/var/db/pfblockerng
         39056	/var/log/pfblockerng
        299540	/var/unbound

A SSD could improve processing, but a decent HD should be ok.

        2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 (amd64)
        Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz 8GB
        Backup 0.5_5, Bandwidthd 0.7.4_4, Cron 0.3.7_5, pfBlockerNG-devel 3.0.0_16, Status_Traffic_Totals 2.3.1_1, System_Patches 1.2_5
