Connecting two edge switches together
-
I I were to connect a switch from the back of the house to the one in my wiring closet (the one that connects to my internet feed), do I need to set a trunk port on switch 2 and connect from there to the main switch? I want to share vlans on both

Yes, if you want more than one VLAN to the other switch, you'll need to set the ports to trunk mode. If configured as access ports, they'd only pass one VLAN.

What needs to be done is all the vlans that you want on the downstream switch need to be tagged and allowed on the port that connects the switches on both switches.. Cisco calls that a trunk port yes.
edit: BTW moving this to the L2 section.
