I need some assistance running my Roku remote app control from a different VLAN then the VLAN my Roku is on, all the traffic rules are in place, I tried the igmp IP addresses, I tried doing captures on both sides. Avahi is installed. If this can be done let me know your price.

That's fair, was this how it was on the old forum?
I'm just a regular dude running a homelab, I just need some assistance with this it seems to be a common issue. I can't afford a support contract. I guess if I continue to not be able to figure this out I'll post a bid online to contract it out. I just don't really have any more time allocate for this. If you feels inappropriate you may delete this post.

My apologies I'm not a hundred percent sure I understand what you mean. they are separate 802. 1q vlans off of the same interface. I have them set as different interfaces within pfSense.

Yep- and each VLAN interface should have its own subnet.

What are the IP addresses of your ROKU and of your remote device?

Have you set the address of the ROKU box manually in the remote device?

                        What is the remote device?

Let's say the Roku is 192.168.20.20/24 and the remote device, my Android phone, is 192.168.10.20/24, I am using DHCP, but have a static mapping for both.

If your using private addresses for both units there is nothing to be worried about by putting those addresses here.

But the last two questions still..

Have you set the address of the ROKU box manually in the remote device? (how does the remote device know how to find the ROKU?)

                            What is the remote device?

I understand that, no I have not tried manually setting them statically. By remote device I assume you mean my Android phone using the Roku app remote app, no?

                                Have you asked Roku?

                                    Yes your Android device!

Set the address of your ROKU box manually in the Android device and see if that works.

You do not have to statically set the address of the ROKU as long as your DHCP server will always set its address to the same in this case. You have done right by how you have assigned the box in DHCP.

"Both devices must be connected to the same network to communicate successfully. "

I just don't buy it, I feel like that is what they just tell the average consumer. I have no issues chrome casting using avahi to my stereo receiver on the same network as the Roku.
