      Hi,
I am wondering if anyone knows of any way to generate 2 ESSID's with one antenna? Can pfSense handle this or do I have to buy an expensive antennae to do it for me?

pfSense can't do this with a single card. However adding a second wireless card you can setup a second accesspoint interface. This is a limitation of the freebsd wireless driver afaik which doesn't support this yet.

Do you think this could be an upgrade for future versions?

If the driver will support it in the future we most likely will add it but there is nothing we can do so far.

Just to note, I have played with 2 cards as separate AP's and I found that they both conflicted with each other. There was a suggestion that I try one on chan1 and the other on chan6 as these were not supposed to conflict as bad but I never got around to testing that. With 2 AP's running in the same box at the same time I can say I got several timeouts and noticeably slow browsing. I wanted this for a public/private setup but after testing it I wouldn't have placed in a production environment. Just my experiences

Antennaplacement and cables are important in this scenario. Actually I know there are people using pfSense as wireless relaystations with 2 wireless nics (kind of repeater but with 2 seperate cards and routed). Check your hardwaresetup.
