      This sounds dumb. Specially when I had installed and worked with pfSense before in a couple of sites. I am observing a bizzarre behaviour and I am calling out just to get some help and to assert I am not going bananas.

      I just downloaded the pfSense iso and followed the VMWare instructions for installation. I had ensured VMXNET3 as network adapter type. Installation completes and reboots.

      In the console menu, I want to set WAN and LAN interfaces with IP and start using webconfigurator. THe WAN side works and I am able toping the upstream gateway. However, the LAN interface is not getting on the network. I connected 2 other nodes on the LAN subnet with static IP just to test. These nodes can ping and see each other but both cannot ping the pfSense. Similarly, phSense cannot ping any node on the LAN subnet either. I want to know where I am going wrong.

      Here is what my current setup looking like:
      WAN (wan) -> vmx0 -> v4: 10.31.92.2/27
      LAN (lan) - > vmx1 -> 192.168.10.2/23

      ANy help is highly appreciated.
