No internet when connected to VPN
-
I have been trying, for a while, to get my VPN through NordVPN setup properly. So far I have been unsuccessful, so I am hoping someone here can help me out.
My pfSense 2.4.4 is installed as a virtual machine on VMware ESXi 6.5 with the WAN ethernet port is passed through directly to the virtual machine.
I followed the guide provided here: https://support.nordvpn.com/Connectivity/Router/1089079142/pfSense-2-4-4-setup-with-NordVPN.htm
For a moment upon enabling the VPN it works! I can pull up google, ipleaktest showed my VPN IP address. This doesn't last long, and the internet stops. Google chrome gives me an error saying DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG. Enabling/disabling the VPN, and restarting ubound can occasionally get a momentary restoration of internet through the VPN, but again it doesn't last long before cutting out. Everything looks to be working properly from my pfSense dashboard, I have an IP address for my VPN and all the services are up and running.
If I stop the VPN service, internet is instantly restored. If I use aliases to direct certain machines through the VPN only the directed machines are without internet, all others not aliased work fine.
This also is not just an issue with NordVPN, I previously had PIA and had the same issue, I just used it for my cell phones, I switched to Nord recently and am having the same issue trying to get things working in pfSense. This is obviously a setup issue on my end it seems, but I have followed guides and gone through a lot of troubleshooting research.
Here's hoping someone can shed some insight into what I have set incorrectly/what is going on.

So I have finished the video suggested, nothing new was presented.
I have noticed that the internet does not cut out until my torrent server attempts to download. If I only have one machine connected to my vpn it seems to work, once I add a second machine(torrent server) and attempt to add a torrent my internet stops through both machines.
I am very much in need of assistance, if anyone has any suggestion I'd be more than willing to try it.
If anyone requires more informaiton please let me know and i'll provide it, I have been struggling with this so long now I'm at my wits end.

Recently I has the same problem with getting my VPN through NordVPN setup, but it has failed. Can't say exactly what's the matter but after VPN service disconnection I could use the Internet with no troubles too.
You say it's not an issue with NordVPN but when I've changed it to VeePN service everything was straighten out. But your problem may be of another kind...
