Dual adsl into single Pfs wan interface
-
Hi guys.
We have a client with an on premises PFsense firewall.
Due to recent internet issues the client wishes to add a second internet connection is it possible to configure this on a single wan interface on the pf sense? Or is another nic required? Many thanks

If you want to have the public IP on pfSense (adsl modem or router in bridge mode) use VLANs and a smart/managed switch if you don't want to add another NIC.
If you have two different upstream routers you could probably try to use a dumb switch, but then you will have double NAT. I would avoid that.

Do both ADSL circuits terminate in the same phone exchange ?
You'd still have a single point of failure, you do with a single router anyhow.
Would you not be better off suggesting a 4G solution ?

One way to use only one NIC for multiple internet connections is to use vlans
but you have to use a manage switch and configure pfsense's wan interface
as vlan trunk port then add internet connections as vlan interface over it.Michael.
