openvpn ios connect allowing local lan while connected to vpn

Hi,
Apologies if this is a noob question..I have an openvpn server setup however when I connect from my iPad via the OpenVpn connect App my client has local LAN access as well as access to the VPN networks. - I have specified the setting - push "redirect-gateway block-local" - and I see this in the connection events on the iPad.
Am I missing something to blocking local LAN on ios devices? This approach works perfectly on Android/Windows.

You have full access control with Firewall Rules in the OpenVPN tab.

I am referring to access LAN of the network being used to access the VPN (not mine this would be the network in connwecting to the vpn from)
