I can not get the captive portal to grab web traffic without a valid web address. The only solution I found is one I was a few years ago and cannot seem to find it again. So it was basically have all traffic that was not in the DNS server data sent to a default site. Can anybody help me with this?

...which is perfectly normal as it would involve DNS poisoning.

DNS poisoning is a superbad practice and should not be used. some protocols (DoH,DoT,HTTP2) have been specifically designed to fight this shady practice. these protocols are now in use in some browsers (Firefox...)

if you are looking for displaying a default page when users are typing a non-existent website...then what you are looking for is probably a proxy server?

@free4 I have had some problems with browsers not liking my DNS server tomfoolery. Could you point me in the direction of the proxy server and settings I may need to uses? The network is only used for a neighborhood gaming network. I just want to serve three or four personal web pages, share files, and play some old school lan games. In fact I do not want them using the Internets at all.

          Thanks.
