      The issue I get is specified here. This is the log file from the client, pfsense. Specifically it just restarts after establishing a connection. The server side log file is located here. It states that there is an issue with my HMAC authentication.

      My pfsense configuration can be seen here.

      There is nothing wrong with the openvpn server itself, I have verified this by importing the ovpn file on my laptop and successfully connecting to it. The issue is with my configuration on pfsense. If anyone could help me figure out either where the server configuration data or help me figure out what I have misconfigured I would greatly appreciate it.

        Also post the client config as exported by OpenVPN-AS.

            Did you add
            key-direction 1
            to the advanced configuration field in pfS?

              My custom options under advanced configuration are as follows:

              verb 3;
              key-direction 1;

              sorry for the multiple edits, I was trying something out and had to revert it back to its original form.
