I like tab menus, I think a lot of people do. It seems like the web 2.0 thing. So why did we choose to go with a drop down menu for navigation?
One of my websites at work (AF Portal) decided to do this not to long ago and everyone hates it. Drop down menus just seem like a step back from tabs.
I recommend keep the tabs what about everyone else? -
I'm new to the community and basically still feeling my way round the dark, but I have worked with programmers before and…well, it'll be interesting to see what happens next. Um, you don't work with National Geographic by chance , do you?

I recommend keep the tabs what about everyone else?As far as I understand, the character count of the tabs is now what determines if there are tabs or a drop-down1 2. The drop-down is triggered if the tabs would overflow and be unusable/awkwardly rendered.
This allows for much more flexibility when dealing with large numbers of choices, but it can be a little more difficult to navigate.
