Ntopng change log directory
-
Hi all, First post here, please by kind.
I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find an answer.I have ordered the hardware for my pfsense router / firewall and I'm going to install an additional 250gb ssd flash drive for keeping the ntopng logs on that drive. So I will install the ntopng package using the package manager in pfsense.
Can I during installation select the directory where I want the ntopng logs to be stored or can I do it afterwards? Thanks in advance. -Toube

Or is it just a matter of setting the log directory after installing it using this command:
[--data-dir|-d] <path>So this could be done by loggin into pfsense using ssh and doing this command before enabling the ntopng? ntopng [--data-dir|-d] <path> -Toube

Not too many following these netgate forums I assume.

more likely no one know for sure, my 2 cent is that you can't do that from the gui but maybe with a script that manually run it with that command line ...

Yeah I second that. After installing it using pfsense ui then login in to pfsense os with ssh and do a following command:
ntopng [--data-dir|-d] <path>I'm just a bit surprised that nobody has changed the log directory as it uses a big amount of data when writing the logs and statistics. -Toube

Got the log directory changed when following a guide from 2015 from these forums. -Toube
