How to know all devices managed under the Netgate Pfsense Firewall Network

  • Hi:

I have two devices configured to be managed under the Netgate Pfsense Firewall Network.
They are working fine. What should I do to show all devices managed by Netgate Pfsense Firewall Network ?

  • @Tom-Lee

What do you mean by "managed". PfSense is a firewall and router. It doesn't do device management, that I'm aware of.

  • I meant devices connected to the switches which is connected the LAN port of the Pfsense firewall router. How to see of the devices ip and other information which are connect this LAN ?

Use a network management utility like SolarWinds, Dameware, etc.

  • (1) pfsense "diagnos/ARP Table" menu does not give all devices inside the firewall. How to fix it to show all devices inside the firewall and route ? (2) Any free software tool can use ?

The pfSense software is not a network management utility.

the pfSense software will only have an ARP entry for hosts it must communicate directly with, because this is how ARP works.

If you try to shoehorn the pfSense firewall software into a network management role you will likely never have a good network management utility and will be disappointed.

People make products to do exactly what you are looking for. The pfSense software isn't that.

The arp cache will only list the devices that have recently sent packets to the firewall. After a while those devices will be removed from the list, unless more packets are received.
