Weird - I have two of the unifi 150W 8 port switches with the 2 SFP ports. I've had them only about 6 months but I can't say I've ever had any problems with them or with any firmware (although in this 6 month span I've only had one firmware update). Just curious what problems you had since I find them to be good switches and easy to manage.

The interface and general principle is great. It's just the reliability that I'm not confident in anymore.

In addition to two USGs, I have two 150W and one 60W switch, got them back in 2017 and for the first couple years they were pretty solid. Around early 2019 they started to get unstable. Applying firmware updates got shaky to the point where I would no longer initiate them unless I was local on site. Around 50% of the time they would fail or just remain disconnected in the controller. The solution was either to reset and adopt again, most of the time having to rollback. Ubiquiti warranty is 1 year so if it is a hardware issue then i can't get service. However, since the issues are spread out across the 3 switches and 2 USGs I don't think it's likely that all of them are running into hardware issues at the same time. The last straw for me was when my USGs started to freeze or slow down and the only fix was power cycling, this is something that I was hoping to not do anymore once I moved to "enterprise" grade hardware like ubiquiti.

I've only had good experiences with their APs so I will probably be sticking with those. I am keeping an eye out for a good price ruckus APs on ebay however. I'm not sure what is going on with the gateway and switch firmware. Maybe they are focusing more on their future equipment like the UDM.

Yikes -- like a I said I've only had mine for 6 months. I'm hopeful that in another year and a half this doesn't happen to me -- or maybe I just won't apply firmware updates.
