Problem with Modem in bridge mode
-
Hi, a newbie here, i used to be able to connect from my residence to the office using openvpn with tls/ssl +User Auth with my fiberhome modem in bridge mode connected to my pfsense sg2220. This past few months though, when our ISP has started to transiton to IPV6 (no ipv6 address yet at the moment of this writing), they started to roll out shared IP addresses that starts with 100... which is CGNAT i think. So I requested them to put my modem back to bridge mode and got an ip address starting with 49......at home, since i could no longer host my webserver if the ip was 100.
Problem is, i could not connect to the office using openvpn if my public ip was 49.xx.xx.xx at home but connection passes through if it was 100.xx.xx.xx. Its suppose to be the reverse i think. So i tried to connect my PC ( the openvpn client) directly to my modem to eliminate any issues with my pfsense router, situation is the same. The office can not also connect to our residence network which also hosts a webserver. I noticed that if both pfsense routers (office and residence) have the same gateway from their respective modems, there is no connection. But once either of them gets a different gateway, connection passes through. Sadly, both residence and office have the same gateway now which has not changed for almost two months now.
I already tried to change modems, but the problem persists. Any help would me much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Oh, i also remember, if try the openvpn through a friends house, it works. And if i try to use 3G to connect to the webserver at the office it also works? I m at a lost. -
Are your WAN interfaces configured automatically by DHCP or PPPoE on both, office and home?
If yes, the issue may be in the ISPs network and you should consult him again.
