We had an electrical storm last night which took out some of the cable infrastructure. pfSense failed over to my cellular gateway and all worked as expected with all devices able to access the internet!

What I did notice however, whilst pfSense was in failover mode, the web GUI was very slow to load then would not respond, requiring me to ssh to the box and restart PHP-FPM, then the GUI would respond immediately only to slow down and not respond again.

There is something that is happening with the check_reload_status that is slowing things down. Once my cable service returned, pfSense reported some PHP crash errors too and the Web GUI was back to it's responsive self.
