Pfsense Setup

  • Hi Gurus,

I am setting up Pfsense on my ESXi 6.5. I have created 2 standard switches LAN and WAN. My Gateway Router IP is 10.0.0.138/24. The Pfsense WAN IP is 10.0.0.50/24 and LAN IP is 10.1.0.1/24.

From the pfsense console, I am able to ping all the host in the subnet 10.0.0.0/24 , however, I am not able to ping the pfsense host 10.0.0.50/24 nor able to open the Web GUI from any of the nodes from the LAN.

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Anjan

  • @anjanmj pfSense blocks all WAN unsolicited traffic. Buy unsolicited I mean traffic that did not occur on the pfSense LAN.

  • @chpalmer Thanks for the Update.

Can you guide me how to fix the issue from the CLI console as i am not able to login to the GUI.

    Thanks

    Anjan

Access the gui from the LAN side, and then allow what you want to the wan IP.

  • @johnpoz I am unable to access the IP from LAN Side. I am using virtual Pfsense hosted on an ESXi. WAN IP is 10.0.0.50 and LAN IP is 10.0.1.5 which i have changed from the previous IP mentioned above. From my laptop when i try to access WAN or LAN IP i am unable to access it however from the PFsense CLI Console from the ESXi i am able to ping the WAN Gateway 10.0.0.138.

    Thanks

    Anjan

Its a ESXI host, do you not have access to the vmkern.. throw up some VM on the lan side network... Console that VM.. Or sure console to pfsense and disable the firewall..
