I reboot the VM pfSense 2.4.4-RELEASE-p2 (amd64) and the GUI webpage shows the reboot countdown.
The VM has rebooted and is ready, however the reboot countdown screen shows forever counting down and resettings, rather than presenting the login page.

To trigger the webpage GUI from the reboot countdown page to the login page, I have to ssh in via a Shell. As soon as I select 8) Shell, the webpage then updates from the reboot countdown page to the login page.

This could be a problem if someone is not aware of the Shell trick.

It's highly unlikely to be related. There is nothing that gets triggered by pressing 8. Maybe your system connecting to the firewall via SSH on its own might have nudged your client system's IP stack in some way (e.g. a new ARP request), but it's unlikely to be a firewall problem.
