Missing 29 February
-
Hi, everybody. I hope I'm not in the wrong section, in case you'll excuse me.
As per the attached screenshot, I find two log files with date 01 March but missing 29 February. Do you have any idea what happened? Thank you! -
The date shown is probably the "last modification time stamp". One of the two (!) 01-03-2020 files was probably closed at something like 01-03-2020, and several seconds later, so just several seconds after 29-02-2020.
Anyway, it's simple to see what happening : open up the 2 files, go to the end and see that one of the 01-03-2020 files contains "29-02-2020" time stamps. Why didn't you do so ? Do the logs files of squid not contain classic logs lines, with date and time up front each line ?
On why posing a squid question in some random forum like this one, the captive portal sub forum ?
There is a squid sub forum .... -
@Gertjan Thanks for your answer. I couldn't find squid subforum. I apologize and ask the administration if they can move it.

find squid subforum
Squid is a proxy. See, for example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squid_(software) or the squid-cache.org ;)
You found your 2020-02-29 log lines ?
-
@Gertjan I haven't had time to check it out yet. I should be able to tonight. Thank you

There is a squid sub forum ....not a random forum, he have a sg-1100 with squid and captive portal installed, maybe the wrong subforum but that logs are from pfsense, he only found strange that this year the log "forgot" to save as 29/02 instead he have 2 files with 1/03,it could be a coincidence though

Some how, it was pretty sure that @ilarioQ isn't using the captive portal.
He is probably ( ;) ) using DNS, so he could have post it's question also in the DNS sub forum ... or DHCP or ....
Anyway, not an issue. It's squid that handles the name of its files.
