There are references to OpenDNS, for example this page (https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/dns/blocking-dns-queries-to-external-resolvers.html). Given that Cloudflare has recently passed a 3rd party security audit, it is free to use, and is the fastest (https://medium.com/@nykolas.z/dns-resolvers-performance-compared-cloudflare-x-google-x-quad9-x-opendns-149e803734e5 ), would you want to suggest this DNS rather than OpenDNS - which is owned by Cisco.

To me pfSense is a far superior and the recommendations should follow suit. Mozilla is now suggesting Cloudflare for DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH).

      Thank you in advance.

Those docs are likely in need of an update but at that time the recommendation was not to use OpenDNS because of its security but because of its blocking features which, again at the time, were available for most users to control what sort of responses were allowed.

They'll all get updated and cleaned up eventually, as time allows.
