PfSense and Google Nest Wifi
-
Hello,
My friend has two of these
And I love the coverage and speed performance. In his case he does not care about different subnets and uses it only for browsing and streaming.
I, on the other hand love pfSense and want to have wireless devices be able to communicate with the rest of the network. I have mix of windows, Linux and Android devices.
Reading online it is not recommended to turn off Nest DHCP server because it can cause problems.
My question is there's any way that I can setup something in pfSense to be able to communicate with all clients just like regular Access Point would be able to?TIA!

Anyone?

That's really all up to the Nest Wifi config, not pfSense.

Thanks for the reply. I thought there was something that can be changed in pfSense so clients can see each other. At least I know now.

Not if they are isolated at L2, which would be in the AP. If the AP is doing any kind of NAT/routing that would be further isolating them there.
I'm not sure what your options are there but you'd want to get as close to a bridged setup that doesn't have any kind of NAT, routing, DHCP, etc happening on the AP.

@jimp thank you! I will try few devices and see what gives me the best coverage with AP only.
