OpenVPN through home network to virtual enviroment
-
So im writing a report on pfSense, to end my studies this summer.
Ive created a enviroment in virtualbox, within my home router.
My pfSense firewall is before my home router. So i was wondering, now when my VPN works on my home network, is it possible for me to make it work outside my home network. The enviroment has network acces. This might just be a lack of network knowledge from my side, but hope you guys can help me, i dont know if its possible with the OpenVPN software :)

Sure, you can have OpenVPN listen to any Interface you want.

Yeah, i do have it listening on the WAN interface. The problem is that my WAN connection is sat to my home network (private ip 192.168.87.1)
In my understanding, as long as i havent specified a public ip, people on the real WAN cant connect.
So i was wondering if i could manipulate the OpenVPN software to go for my real public ip address, and then forward it to the firewall :)(I know my setup is pretty stupid )

You don't need to "manipulate" anything, just make the traffic hit pfSense WAN. To do so forward the OpenVPN port from the upstream device (ISP router?) to the pfSense WAN IP.
