Is there a way to policy route and filter all traffic from a docker container?

If the docker is bridged or using host networking mode, is there a way to redirect all traffic from this one container to another route like VPN? I tried using macvlan and while it mostly works, something funny is going on with the port forwards and the outside application sees it as being closed.
