Request - Dummies guide to HA setup
-
Hi All,
I'm looking to get some clarity on how to setup high availability with two broadband connections.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a step by step guide ? Or give me a good summary of what's required?I don't know PFSense / Netgate boxes too well so apologies... Basically we have an existing PFSense with a single broadband connection... and it performs very well.
We have commissioned a 2nd broadband connection and we need to get it connected to the Netgate and my hope was that we could operate it in an active / passive way so that were we to lose the primary connection it would automatically kick over to the second.
We also have a second Netgate which I'm told we can setup to mirror the first one but I don't know how that works... The broadband connections are piped into a cisco core switch on VLANS 2122 and 2126 respectively.. and are available via trunk ports to the Netgate(s)... So I'm hoping it's just a configuration thing.... Anyway if I can provide additional clarity to help you help me please ask..
Kind regards,
Paul.

Hello,
when I've done my HA configuration I followed this:
High Availability guide PFSense
Until now I have not done setup for multi WAN configuration but you can find more in this Rounting and Multi WAN documentation and specifically in Using Multiple IPv4 WAN Connection
Hope this can help to start.
