Are you trying to use the same subnet & DHCP address pool on both the native and VLAN? You configure a VLAN on a regular physical port and it then appears as another interface.

        I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

@JKnott no, the address pool is different. Although the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 on both networks as well. is that not correct ? Both are configured as /24 networks.

I'm not familiar with what the word subnet itself refers too, sorry.

The subnet is the local part of the LAN address. For example, you mentioned a 255.255.255.0 mask (properly written as /24). So, if the network address is 192.168.5.0 /24, then that would be one subnet. You could have another, so long as it was different from that.

What are the different DHCP address pools?

However, if you don't know what a subnet is, are you sure you should be playing around with VLANs? It helps to understand basic networks first.

I tend to heir on the side of caution when it comes to using terminology I'm not 100% familiar with, but I have the basics down that's for sure.

Regardless, after some extensive troubleshooting I got rid of the Aruba switch and swapped it out with a Ubiquiti.
Had my network infrastructure team troubleshoot the Aruba... nobody could get it working. They let me know about how others have not been able to use Aruba equipment in the past, so i chalked it up to the switch.
