Hi - new caller and really struggling. I could do with some advice please?

I have managed to connect my home pfsense box to my ovh openvpn server.
The pfsense box is using my old certs and keys tas a client that I previously used on my Edgerouter 4.

      The layout is as follows:

      pfsense (10.8.40.2 tap) >>>> Ovh (10.8.40.1 tap)

Ovh has a route back to pfsense via 10.8.40.2.

I cant seem to understand what I need to do on pfsense to allow ping between each other?

On the pfsense shell I can ping itself 10.8.40.2 but I cannot pint 10.8.40.1 (OVH Openvpn Server ip).

Ive tried adding a route to 10.8.40.0/24 via 10.8.40.2 but that obv doesnt work.

Ive read about outbound nat etc however Im really confused - compared to my edgerouter this seems overly complex and confusing.

Im just a bit lost - I really want to understand this however im struggling.

All I want to do is connect pfsense as a client to my remote ubuntu server.

      Can anyone advise please?

      Thanks

      Andy

Fixed - turned out to be a couple of issues, the openvpn package was borked. Tested with a static site to site instead, wouldnt connect. Full clean install and repeat the site2site with shared key and we are up and running!

Link speed with i3 6100 pfsense box = 11MB/sec from ovh to home which is saturating the link. Previously on the edgerouter 4 which has no aes-ni or offload ability for openvpn I was lucky to maintain 1.5MB/sec. This is sooooooo much faster :) I really need to learn pfsense fully now :)
