Backup config files can be corrupt (check)!! You might have a problem, with recovery :(
-
Hello,
In the past months I needed to recover my system a couple of times (due to testing), which did not work!! The reason: "a corrupt backup-config-file".
The problem is, that at least my configuration dumps (created via diagnostics backup and restore), there are "semi double entrys" which are not accepted by the xml-config-loader (line 89), during the recovery procedure.
In my case the xml-lines related to the xmldata for IPV4 and IPV6 did occur twice, in the config! And .... so that entry is not unique any more ...
In my case the "semi double" entrys where related to:
<dhcpddata>
<dhcpdv6data>
No idea if the problem is unique for "dhcp" !!The temporally way out is for this problem, is to delete the second entry for those two occurrences (<dhcpddata>, dhcpdv6data>)
Please check your backup-ed config files for this problem, so that you do not have a problem, at the moment you need them !!!
The error did occur again (and again), when creating a new backup-file, after a clean install with a manually corrected config file!
The used recovery procedure is described at https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/backup/restore-during-install.html)

It's probably a recent version of 2.5.0 that exposed this issue.

Fixed in the latest snapshot
