Netgate hardware for office networks where they have separate Wifi hardware, but I'd like to find an all-in-one SOHO router with Wifi that has pfSense (or at least doesn't block its installation). I looked around Netgate's offerings, but they don't offer a device with antenna connectors. I'd like to move off of my Asus RT-N66U with Asus-Merlin, which doesn't support pfSense, sadly. Does anyone have recommendations on for such a beast? Thanks in advance! UPDATE: Not looking for rackmount hardware

My understanding is that pfsense doesn't do WiFi well. Regardless I prefer a separate AP for a variety of reasons. Unless your needs are limited, you will likely get better performance that way.

PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.
      UniFi AC-Lite access point

      I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

It's the FreeBSD base / drivers that doesn't do WiFi well, not pfSense itself.

Yes, this is true. About the best you can do currently is an older Atheros card that can support 3x3 802.11N. That will get you a theoretical link speed of 450Mbps and probably somewhere in the region of 300Mbps actual throughput in good conditions.

          But things are improving.
