      I am using OpenVPN for Android that allows me to only select the apps I want to use the tunnel and it works great, the only issue that when I am at home and connected to the LAN the tunnel drops and I cannot use the apps as they no longer work due to the tunnel being down.

      I have researched Hairpinning but I could not get it to work and from what I have read that is not the ideal set up anyway.

      Could someone suggest how I go about get my apps to work whether I am connected to the LAN or the VPN so that it is seemless, open to other configuration options as well.

      Thanks

        @girkers
        There may be multiple ways to resolve, hairpinning is one of theme.
        Set the OpenVPN server to listen on localhost. Add a NAT port forwarding for the OpenVPN packets to localhost and enable NAT reflection in the rule.

        But a cannot tell you if the routing goes well if you connect from inside your LAN. This depends on your device.

          Thanks for the reply.

          I have ended up using OpenVPN Connect an always on VPN and whilst not exactly what I wanted to do, it works for my apps in that it disconnects the VPN when I am home and works fine.

          Just some of my apps when I am connected to the VPN act a little strange but that is for another post.

          Cheers.
