can't install last 2 dev versions on sg 3100 from USB
-
I have spent a few hours today downloading and trying to install on a box I am very familiar with. I have reinstalled the OS many times on this with my home lab, so I am very familiar with the process
pfSense-CE-memstick-ADI-2.5.0-RC-amd64-latest.i..>
and
pfSense-CE-memstick-ADI-2.5.0-RC-amd64-20210214..>I've extracted with 7zip. written to two different working thumb drives. I used both write utilities suggested. diskparted and erased them each time..
when I boot to the console(sg3100 from a powered off state) I have tried thinking it would boot off the drive itself. (it does on a separate laptop). but it doesn't boot off the thumb drive
IF I try to run- run recovery on both files I get :
reading ubldr.bin
unable to read the file ubldr.bin
starting application at 0x00200000any suggestions? As my original image drive from netgate still works just fine

The 3100 is run on the ARM cpu architecture not the amd64 architecture. The image you are attempting to install is the latter. ARM images are not available for download off the Pfsense site as they are custom. Only Netgate provides them. There won't be an ARM image available until 2.5 is gold.

@bcruze no worries. The images for official Netgate appliances are never available on the website. Those are CE images for use with amd64 devices. I could use one on my SG-5100 for example. However, for the official images you will always have to request them from Netgate via a support ticket. They are super quick to respond when you do. I tend to do a clean install every time a new version is released so I back up my configuration, send the request to Netgate, and then get down to business once they give me a link to the image.
