      Hi,

just wanted to install the OpenBGPD package and wondered why it doen't appear anymore in the new releases of pfSense.

Under https://twitter.com/pfsense/status/941310923096182786 is recommended from pfSense to use instead FRR.

Does anyone know since what release they removed the OpenBGPD packet, just for curiosity?

      Best regards,
      Marcus

@marcus_1302 FRR is really where you want to be and what you should be using. Any reason why you need to use OpenBGPD?

FRR is just fine, but as I wrote clearly, damn at least I thought, I wanted to know just out of curiosity and for documentation what the last version was.

So if someone knows the last version, I would appreciate a reply, otherwise ignore it!

It must be 2.4.4, since version 2.4.5 it is marked as depricated.

If anyone also interested to know it.

@marcus_1302 The OpenBGPd was and is available in pfSense 2.4.5-p1 (last stable). The conversion to FRR has been encouraged for a couple of years. OpenBGPd was removed from pfSense 2.5.0 and Plus 21.02 onward.

@marcus_1302 it wasn’t very clear because you said you were trying to actually install it, not just document the last version to support it. Glad you got your answer. But yeah, check out the dynamic routing with FRR hangout (https://youtu.be/4IlKcB17rWk), Jim talks a bit about converting OpenBGPd installs to FRR.
