      Hello all!

I am trying to setup SquidGuard as a non-transparent proxy for web filtering on my network. I am able to make changes to ACL's and my whitelist, but in order to apply these changes, I need to reboot my entire pfSense router. I've tried just starting the squid and squidGuard service under Status>Services, but this still doesn't seem to apply the changes.
Rebooting the system every time I need to make an adjustment to an ACL is unacceptable for this network as it requires high availability. I feel like I'm overlooking something simple and would appreciate any help.

I am running the latest packages; pfSense CE: 2.5.1-RELEASE, squid 0.4.45_3, and squidGuard 1.16.18_18

      Thanks!

@ben-ihelputech Any time you make a change to squidguard settings in pfSense, it only updates the config file. To use the new settings, you have to go back to the General settings page and click Save at the bottom, then Apply at the top. It even tells you this at the top of the General settings tab:

The Save button at the bottom of this page must be clicked to save configuration changes.
To activate squidGuard configuration changes, the Apply button must be clicked.

squidguard isn't a real service in the conventional sense. It's a program that squid calls every time someone requests an URL. That's why "restarting" it didn't actually affect anything.
