      Hello,

I have been running pfsense on Proxmox with no issues for well over a year. Since upgrading to 2.5.1 things have been a little unstable. The environment is a generously provisioned VM with virtio nics.

In the last 24 hours my LAN interface has dumped twice. On both occasions bouncing the interface has resolved the issue.

Apr 27 15:18:36	kernel vtnet0: watchdog timeout on queue 0
Apr 28 15:18:42	kernel vtnet0: watchdog timeout on queue 0

When this occurs I see incomplete MAC addresses on my internal nodes and no traffic is passed until I disconnect the carrier nic in the VM config. At this stage, would I be better ditching virtio for e1000 based nics or am I running into what looks a lot like a bug given the 24 hour period before it reoccurs?

      Regards,
      Matt.

I saw the same behavior but then on my wan link. I am running physical tho. I ditched 2.5.1 went back to 2.5 and everything was back in order and stable.

I’d love to go back to 2.4.5 p1 but I cannot install latest version of pfblockerng. My advise, stay clear of the 2.5 line of releases as long as you can.
