      The authentication server page looks OK, it finds containers so it seems to talk to the AD-DC (samba).

      "Diagnostics - Authentication" fails for that auth server.

      The DC is up and running and looks OK. I even toggled from ADC1 to ADC2 for a test.

      Are there any issues know around that topic?

      EDIT: time is in sync, just to add that ... and the user/pw authenticates OK with "wbinfo -a" on the samba box

        It seems to be an issue with the authentication server:
        when I reconfigure the OpenVPN server to local authentication, the tunnel works.

          Fixed by creating another LDAP auth server and entering the same config as before ...

          I will diff that in detail, for now: works!
