    Hello
I created a captive portal for a hotel that works perfectly on a fiber or ADSL, I manage to connect to the portal page to authenticate myself.

But when I switch to a satellite connection, I cannot access the portal, it tells me to verify the connection then no connection.

If I go directly through the LAN, the satellite connection is very stable, no worries about getting quoted
I have a very high latency on the satellite connection between 630 ms 650 ms

Can you help me thank you

The captive portal doesn't care if you're using fiber, ADSL, VDSL, pppoe (a modem) or whatever.
Just 'hook up a cable on the WAN NIC (just one assigned WAN NIC !) that provides access to the net' and you're good. As pfSense and all devices behind it do not care who and how packets are delivered.
It could be pigeons carrying data with USB drives (serious latency issue aside).

Do you use a multiple WAN setup ?

If the captive portal doesn't work, the normal trouble shoot steps stay valid.

Not an issue for a captive portal.
Initial DNS requests will be somewhat slower, not a big deal.

edit : if fiber is available, why bother with ADSL or satellite ?
Or are you situated in France, thus needing a max of backup plans ?

Edit : and where are the logs ??

@gertjan Thank you for your answer, at the hotel there is only a satellite connection. I tested the configuration on other fiber networks to see if my config was ok.

I am in France. I only have one WAN, the problem is that I cannot access the portal login page

          @guillame
I've tested pfSense with a "Nordnet" router and a satellite connection a month ago.
Works well, as expected, because what the 'WAN' actually is, A/VDSL RTC, PPPoE, over Wifi or satellite, it doesn't matter.
