Early test results with 2.5.2 BETA
-
Hi! I just installed and setup 2.5.2 BETA on my homelab in a VM. I can confirm that Multi-WAN with OpenVPN port forwarding with Gateway Group is working! Very good to see there is movement in the right direction!
Things I found not working atm:
- Package manager is not working. When I select the Availabel Packages tab I get the following error: Unable to retrieve package information.
- Duplicating a rule in Firewall - > NAT -> resets all the fields to default (like adding a new rule instead of duplicating one)
Let me know how I can help with testing this further. If I have new findings I will post them here.
--Edit--
Addes screenshot of system information for reference. -
I can't replicate either of those behaviors. On 2.5.2-BETA here, the package manager works, and duplicating a port forward rule keeps the data in the fields as expected.

@jimp I did a reboot and I can confirm that package manager works :) Let's call that "pebcac" :P. But the rule duplication in the Firewall -> NAT -> Outbound still is there. When I duplicate an existing rule all the fields are reset to default. I tried this with Safari and Firefox.
When installing the Wireguard package I get a message that the firewall has encountered an error. This is the output:
Crash report begins. Anonymous machine information: amd64 12.2-STABLE FreeBSD 12.2-STABLE RELENG_2_5_2-n226637-10439d5c8a5 pfSense Crash report details: PHP Errors: [01-Jun-2021 15:00:31 Europe/Amsterdam] PHP Warning: flock() expects parameter 1 to be resource, null given in /usr/local/pkg/wireguard/wg_service.inc on line 324 [01-Jun-2021 15:00:31 Europe/Amsterdam] PHP Warning: fclose() expects parameter 1 to be resource, null given in /usr/local/pkg/wireguard/wg_service.inc on line 327 No FreeBSD crash data found.

The WireGuard issue is known and the package maintainer is working to fix it.
For NAT, you initially said "Firewall > NAT" which is port forwards, you didn't mention Outbound tab rules. I'll give that a try.
-
I was able to replicate the rule copy issue with Outbound NAT and opened https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/11981. Thanks!

@jimp Glad to help!

Hi. I noticed that it has been more than a week ago since there was a new snapshot for 2.5.2 BETA. On the snapshot server I can see that the last snapshot image is 4th of June, which is also the version I am running on my test vm.
Any progress on newer builds or release date? Thank you.

You cant sort the rules anymore/drag and drop them in the GUI.
FYI.
-
@cool_corona It works for me.
I am running 2.5.2-BETA (amd64) built on Fri Jun 04 03:01:13 EDT 2021 on my test vm.
-
It'll be coming soon, we shut down the public builds since we are working on a rather significant pf update which has a high likelihood of breaking things, and we want to test it all out internally before exposing it to the public to reduce the chance of people hitting problems.

No problems either.

Same here, I tried on 2.6.0 and the latest 2.5.2 build we have undergoing testing right now, and drag-and-drop works on both.
Usually when that breaks it's something in the browser, an ad or script blocker of some sort which needs an exception for the firewall.
-
I cant get it to work in neither FF or Chrome no matter what.
clean install.
-
I tried on a completely fresh install here and it works as expected. I can drag/drop rules and save and they stay where they are supposed to.
What specific page are you trying this on?
What exactly happens when you try to drag and drop?

@jimp Firewall NAT and RULES
It only marks the text on the page... I dont get the move cursor.
-
I can move the widgets on the dashboard but I dont get the same cursor when hovering the rules or NAT, so I cant move them like the widgets.
