pfBockerNG, ads and trackers
-
Hi,
First, sorry for my English.
I installed pfBlockerNG-devel 3.0.0_16 and I'm trying remove all ads or trackers without success.
I installer DNSBL groups :- ADs_Basic
- easylist_noelemhide.txt
- easyprivacy.txt
- ADs - Collection of ADvertisement Domain Feeds.
- BBcan177
But ghostery and adblocker ultimate continue to detect ads or tracker.
How do i get 0 ads and trackers ?Thanks

It largely hinges on your block lists. If your block lists don't include all ad/tracker URIs, you're going to have some get through. However, your ad blocker will always show as blocking ads/trackers even when pfBlockerNG also would.
When your browser downloads the main webpage (index.html typically) your browser's ad blocker will intercept the lookups for all of that extra junk you don't want. This means that the request for that junk will never leave your browser, so pfBlockerNG will never get the chance to block them. Any ads which your ad blocker doesn't recognize will then be requested by your browser, and now pfBlockerNG gets its chance to help. It will backhole those requests it identifies as unwanted, so they can't be loaded in by the browser.
However, your ad blocker will always take the first step and cleaning up the pages you visit. Remember, the ads are not coming in on their own. Your browser is asking for them, so your browser plugins offer the first line of defense against them.
The real test is this: Turn off your browser's ad blockers, and try browsing the web. See how many, if any ads get through.

The 'quality' ones, the ones that contain all the domains and IP's that block all the adds etc ?
If it exists, it isn't probably for free. What you can do :
Take some domains that feeds pages with adds.
Try out all the feeds listed on Firewall > pfBlockerNG > Feeds one by one.
Check if the domain(s) that you've noted are listed. if so, keep that list as a candidate for your pfBlockerNGOr : create your own feed, and add domains to it while you keep new ones. Don't forget to maintain and publish it ... for free of course ^^
