Getting wifi router behind pfsense to connect to internet

The proper way to set up guest WiFi is to use a VLAN and 2nd SSID. Does that orbi support VLANs?

@jknott not in AP mode, no. Only in router mode which is what I was trying to get set up but failed to.

@jknott Already spent a bunch of money on it, not about to waste that. Just want to know in regards to my OP can it be done, yes or no. If not then whatever, I'll just deal with it the way I have been before. If I can however make it work in router mode behind pfsense, then so much the better.

Not with the equipment you have. I have a guest WiFi here. I configured pfsense to use VLAN3 for the guest connection and my AP also for VLAN3 & 2nd SSID. Otherwise you have no way to separate guest traffic from the others.If you want to get messy, you could use static mappings to force all your own devices into a segment of the address space and let the others use DHCP to be in another portion and then perhaps filter on IP address.

Maybe you need Orbi support. Does it say somewhere you can't use guest networks in AP mode? Guest isolation is pretty basic trick for APs. Trying to have it in router mode and use pfSense as your router isn't going to work.

@dotdash It may just be a bug with the current firmware. It's supposed to work, at least based on what people say on the forums. Maybe I'll look into downgrading since it looks like trying to mess around otherwise is just not gonna work or be overly messy.
