      I cannot connect to the L2TP server. The password and login are correct, since everything works fine from under MAC OS. NAT is configured on the router. All firewall rules are also present.

        I have no idea if this would help.

        I one got bitten hard on a M$ Windows 10 Client VPN , think it used L2TP.
        Issue a bit like yours i think and NOTHING in the pfSense LOGS.

        I had permit TCP/UDP , not IP.
        That L2TP server was using GRE 😰

        Permitting IP includes GRE.

        But the bad thing was that pfSense showed nothing , in the "Log GUI" , even when it was clearly blocking some GRE packets 😠
