      Hello together,

i'm using PFSENSE now for quite a time.

Now i'm having an issue with the captive portal since version 2.50.

I'm using mac authentication with the fall back option.

Mac Authentication works fine, but if there are no credentials for a mac captive
portal falls back to normal username and password mode.

If i now enter username and password captive portal does not send the request to
my radius server it only tries after 10 or 15 seconds another mac authentication.

If i use only authentication backend mode without mac authentication then logging in
works fine only in radius mac authentication mode it does not.

Maybe someone can help me with this problem.

      Thank you very much.

        Hi,

So I investigated and...Indeed, you are right. It's a bug

Well, to be more precise...it's a side effect of a completely unrelated bug.

The bug is related to the login form itself :

The login form on the error page is redirecting an user to the pfSense FQDN but it should instead redirect the user to pfSense IP.

When receiving an HTTP request on the pfSense FQDN, the captive portal does not understand it, and issue a 302 redirect.

This issue has been already reported (here : https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/11902 ). It has been fixed in 2.5.6 (the latest, development version).
