      Hi,

Wireless cards seem to be hard to get hold of in Holland. I was unable to find a website such as NETGATE over here. I did manage to order a TP-LINK TL-WN660G which seems to have an Atheros 5005GS chipset. As far as the hardware compatibility list goes this should be supported.

I was unable to find anything using google on this card + pfsense. I'm using 1.2.3-RC1 embedded. Any thoughts on whether this is going to work?  ??? If not, I can still cancel the order  ;D

      Wouter.

From the TP_LINK web site it LOOKS as if the WN660G is a mini-PCI version of the WN650G/WN651G in which case it should work well. I have a WN651G which has given me good service for more than the last 16 months.

I have no experience with the WN660G and my usual source doesn't tell me what chipset is used in the WN660G

Installed and configured it yesterday, it seems to be working fine  ;D Hope this info will help anyone searching the forum for this wireless card  :P ;)

Just needed to drill an antenna hole  :-*

Just got some "IN" errors on the Ath0 interface. About 1000 after an hour or so. Is this normal?

No, it isn´t! I have WN660G too (on WRAP) and only few errors:

            In/out packets  	 156420/226364 (15.42 MB/253.79 MB)
            In/out errors 510/150

System Uptime is 1 day, 22:07. I think, you have to use the second Antenna, because I use both.

            WRAP 1E-203; TP-Link TL-WN660G; Fritz!Box SL WLAN (PPPoE passthrough)

ok, got the second antenna installed now. I'm using 2 identical 5dbi antenna's but "IN" errors still occur. I've observed the following:

The box has been up for 48 minutes now and it has 247 IN errors whilst NO CLIENTS ARE CONNECTED. Could this just be packets from other networks or something? It's using both antenna's and diversity has been enabled.

I read something that this no longer occurs in the 6.3 release of FreeBSD?

It's been my experience that ath cards under FreeBSD generate massive in errors. I haven't noticed any problems, so these may be informative/bogus errors. I have systems running 1.2.2 and 1.2.3RC1 and they are still getting in errors. They are mostly Alix 2d3's with a few mini-atx systems running full. I have various atheros cards, but all are mini-pci and have two antennas.

I have to second that ath cards do generate bogus errors. I have an Alix 2C3 and has this issue which is not an issue it works just fine :)

Okay, very nice. Just need to get OpenVPN filtering running now and PfSense does everything I need  :-*

I will be a struggle but I will try not to look at the errors  ;D
