Vlan1 and vlan20 configuration same cable
-
Hi everyone, I am faced with this configuration and I would like to understand, what is the best solution:
From the Router part 1 cable with vlan1 untagged data and vlan20 tagged voice; the router has dhcp on both vlan1 and vlan20.
The cable arrives on the pfsense WAN. The pfsense LAN arrives on the first switch.
the switches are connected to each other with an ethernet cable. there are both phones and PCs connected to both the first and second switches.
I configured the switches to all ports with vlan1 untagged for data and always all ports tagged 20 for voice.
How can I configure the pfsense to make sure that on the WAN port it accepts the untagged vlan1 for data and the tagged vlan20 for the voice and distributes them on the LAN? Thanks in advance to everyone. -
@vettalex why are you trying to push vlan20 through pfsense? Makes no sense that I can see for voice vlan..
Just run the cable carry vlan1 and 20 to switch before you put vlan 1 on your pfsense wan. So that vlan 20 doesn't have to go through pfsense.
I take it you can not just use a different connection off your upstream router for vlan 20?

@johnpoz that's right, either I run another cable from the router, but it's on the first floor ... or I wanted to use the same cable for both. I don't understand what you mean by cable carry ...

Your 1 cable that caries both vlans run it into a switch first.. Here is thread with really the same question..
Here I did a drawing here how to run it through switch first..
